Enhancing Pastoral College Students? English Speaking and Writing Proficiency
English is a mandatory academic discipline that is taught at all levels of education, including universities, in Indonesia. Understanding and producing in English is what students are expected to accomplish through the English instruction and learning process. Students are thus obligated to acquire and achieve proficiency in the English language. Concerning the development of human resources through education, the outcome of being a Catholic religious institution is not limited to producing local lay ministers and educators but also enables individuals to pursue careers as overseas lay ministers or educators of Catholic religious education. Students pursuing this noble endeavor must acquire proficiency in English, an international language utilized as a means of communication during pastoral services and teachings. As a result, this book will present a discussion on the use of English in prayers that Catholic schools will provide. This book will also discuss the need for a teaching strategy that supports each studentâs development of their writing and speaking abilities while using English. It will also discuss whether the teaching model is effective in improving the abilities of each student in Catholic schools.
